| This course will be devoted to Polish-English translation of academic texts, such as essays, articles for scholarly journals and conference papers, primarily in the field of the humanities, liberal arts and social studies. Students will consider questions of language, culture and style, and the impact these have upon the form of the target text. There will be a certain amount of thereotical background but with greater stress placed on the practical aspects of translation.Course requirements: Participation in classes, the translation of several shorter texts during the semester, the translation of a longer academic text (about 1500 words) on a subject of the student's own choosing.
